September 2nd marks the 45th anniversary of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s journey on to a different place, something he described as a gift of Illuvatar in his subcreation. Man is not bound to this earth, but is granted a new step when his earthly days are over. Something to look forward to, I guess.
Somewhat timely was the release of “The Fall of Gondolin” yesterday, completing the cycle of the three main stories that go before the Lord of the Rings. We don’t have a copy yet, but it is on my birthday wish list. Something else to look forward to, I guess.
We remember our ancestors best on the day they passed away. Rest in Peace, Mr. Tolkien. We owe you a lot.

I never had the obsession with the Tolkien books. I did love the chronicles of Narnia though.

Obsession, haha. I guess one doesn’t need to obsess to enjoy. 🙂

Sorry. Maybe obsession was too strong a word!
